Sealed proposals for restroom
renovations at two fire stations in Scarborough, Maine are due July 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Proposals should be addressed to the Town of Scarborough Purchasing Agent. Faxed proposals will not be considered. The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any and all proposals. Bidders must coordinate work with local station personnel to ensure no interruption of emergency response. The successful bidder must obtain all permits, licenses, and design services required for construction. A pre-bid walkthrough is required. The bidder must provide all materials and labor necessary to complete the work. Licensed, experienced contractors must provide expertise and labor for plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work to meet current code and ADA guidelines. Quality requirements include an experienced superintendent on-site throughout construction. The contractor is responsible for scheduling, coordination of all trades, and keeping the owner informed of all scheduling changes. Materials must be delivered, stored, and handled to prevent damage. Kohler products are preferred for toilets, urinals, and fixtures. The contractor is responsible for waste and rubbish removal, final cleaning, and a guarantee of their work. Standard terms and conditions include the right to amend the RFP, waive informalities, and reject proposals. A certificate of insurance is required from all consultants, contractors, and vendors, naming the Town of Scarborough as additional insured within two weeks of the notice of award. The successful consultant must agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the town harmless from any claims arising from their performance. Commercial general liability, automobile liability, workers compensation, errors and omissions, and umbrella coverage are required. All policies must be underwritten by companies licensed in Maine and rated A or better by A. M. Best Company.
