The City of Midland is seeking sealed bids for the Currie West Clubhouse Expansion project. The project involves construction, renovation, demolition, site work, foundations, utility extensions, and the addition of golf simulator bays. Key aspects include exterior envelope work, aluminum window systems, shingled roofing, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work, as well as final grading and hydroseeding. Bidders must attend a mandatory prebid meeting. A bid security of not less than 5% of the proposal amount is required. The contract will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, responsible vendor. The city reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Payment shall be made monthly based upon percentage of work completed that month, with a retainage of 5% withheld until project completion and all punch list and closeout documents have been provided to the owner.
The contractor warrants that the contract has been completed in full conformity with the intent of the contract documents and agrees to return to the site of the work within fourteen (14) working days of receipt of written notice from the owner or the architect to furnish at contractors expense all necessary labor and material to make proper repairs or corrections made necessary by defective materials or inferior workmanship. The warranty of work shall commence upon the substantial completion date of the project and remain in full force and effect for one (1) year from the date thereof.
The city will award to the lowest, responsive, responsible vendor that meets the functional requirements and needs expressed by the specifications.
Bidders must submit a certified check or bid bond for a sum of not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the proposal. Contractors must also comply with all MIOSHA confined space standards and provide written proof of their confined space entry program, training records, and rescue plan upon request.
If the contractor fails to finish the project prior to the completion date established in the contract (including approved extensions), liquidated damages will be charged for each calendar day that the work remains incomplete. The amount of liquidated damages will be deducted from the money due the contractor prior to final payment.
A mandatory prebid meeting will be held on May 19, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Currie Municipal Golf Course, **** Currie Pkwy, Midland, MI 48640. Check-in will be located in the west clubhouse dining room.
Non-submittal of the list of subcontractors who will perform over $5,000 worth of work on this contract may constitute an incomplete bid and may be grounds for disqualification.
