The City of Marceline is accepting bids for installing chip and
seal on city streets.
Sealed proposals must be received by 3:00 PM Central Time on Monday, June 30, 2025, addressed to the City Clerk. Bidders must submit one hardcopy of their bid in a
sealed envelope marked 2025 Street Program Chip and
Seal. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids, request additional information, and waive technicalities. Proposers must have experience in street overlay, be in business for at least three years, have liability insurance (minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence/$2,000,000 aggregate), workers' compensation insurance, and a Marceline business license. If the project cost exceeds $75,000, prevailing wages apply; if it exceeds $50,000, payment and performance bonds are required. Bidders must participate in a federal work authorization program, and sign an affidavit affirming they do not knowingly employ unauthorized aliens. The successful bidder must also complete a 10-hour construction safety and health course. The proposal must include all necessary work, including design, procurement, and installation of the scope of work. The contractor is responsible for verifying existing site conditions, coordinating with staff, removing and disposing of equipment, and complying with all applicable codes and restrictions. The city will provide all city permits and inspections. The contractor must submit a preliminary work schedule and desired payment schedule. The deadline for questions is Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
