Architect Engineering Services for the Electron Injector Complex Preliminary and Detailed Design

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for Architectural Engineering (AE) design services for the Electron Injector Complex (EIN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The services required include preliminary and detailed design, as well as optional construction support services for the EIN subproject, which is part of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The delivery deadline for the preliminary and final designs is dictated by the schedule milestones outlined in Section 5. 0 of the Statement of Work. These milestones are critical for supporting key approvals, budget submissions, and technical objectives of the project.

The AE must have experience in architectural and engineering design services for similar scientific research facilities, including particle accelerators. They must also demonstrate a strong safety record, schedule and cost performance, and a robust quality management system.

The AE team and any consultants are required to visit the project site at the beginning of the preliminary design phase to become familiar with existing site conditions and building systems.

The targeted construction contract price for the purposes of design is $271 million in February 2026 dollars.
