This notice is for a furniture
conservation contractor to provide technical support in the
conservation of museum collections in parks throughout the Northeast region. The contractor will be responsible for performing
conservation treatments, including technical analysis, testing, and treatment of historic and artistic value items. The contractor will also be responsible for onsite treatments, developing treatment proposals, and identifying and arranging for procurement of
conservation supplies. Specific projects include the
conservation of outdoor bronze artifacts, marble slabs for the wall of names, historic artifacts, and bronze plaques and cannon. The contractor must comply with all OSHA and NIOSH regulations, and travel arrangements, as well as the purchase of
conservation supplies, will be arranged by the contract conservator. The National Park Service will provide office space, equipment, including computer and mobile phone, and software. The contractor must have prior experience relating to
conservation treatment of historic collections located in national parks, a graduate program in
conservation or the equivalent degree of knowledge and skill gained through formal apprenticeship programs with accredited museums and/or professionally recognized conservators through the American Institute for
Conservation (AIC), and full professional knowledge of
conservation theory, procedures, and techniques for the
conservation of historic furniture and furnishings. A National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) background investigation and federal government-issued Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential are required. Specific project hours and estimated costs are detailed in the individual statements of work (SOWs). The contractor will be required to work on various projects that support the preservation of cultural resources in the northeast region as needed by the government. The contractor shall provide treatment proposals, treatment reports and surveys as needed by the government. The contractor shall arrange for travel, shipping, and materials purchases with costs borne by the contracting firm. The government reserves the right to approve or to disapprove of the assignment of any contractor personnel to provide services.
