The National Park Service requires two Historic Furnishings Reports (HFR) for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park: one for the SCLC offices and one for the King Family Home. The reports will detail historical data, furnishings, and implementation plans to ensure authenticity and historical accuracy for visitors. The contractor will conduct research, interviews, and on-site visits. Deliverables include draft and final HFRs in digital (PDF) and physical spiral-bound formats. The period of performance is no more than 18 months after contract award. A mandatory on-site visual inspection of the KFH and SCLC offices is required. Questions are due by June 8, 2026, and quotes are due by June 15, 2026.
All work will be completed no later than eighteen months from the kickoff meeting. The final deliverables are due 18 months from the kickoff meeting.
Progress payments to the contractors shall be made based on proper and acceptable invoices submitted consistent with the quality requirements described in the special considerations. Up to 10% of total payment is due at kickoff meeting, up to 50% for 75% draft HFRs, up to 75% for 95% draft HFRs, up to 80% for 100% draft HFRs, and up to 90% at closeout meeting, with the final payment upon submission of all deliverables.
The government intends to award a firm fixed price contract to the offeror that provides the best value without discussions.
The contractor must have demonstrated experience in successful completion of similar museum collection planning projects, exhibition projects, and historic furnishings projects. Experience working with the NPS is desirable. Ideal candidates will possess experience managing museum collection planning, exhibition, and historic furnishings projects, with background knowledge of museum collection management, interpretive and exhibition methods, historic furnishings, and NPS policies and guidelines.
The visual inspection of the KFH and SCLC offices must be conducted onsite by the contractor. The contractor will travel to Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park at 450 Auburn Ave. Atlanta, GA **** to: investigate historic structures and exhibit spaces at the King Family Home 234 Sunset Avenue NE and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference offices 330 Auburn Avenue NE.
