The City of Union City is seeking proposals from licensed physicians to provide medical services to the Police Department for the period of January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. Services include pre-employment medical examinations, return-from-illness examinations, and medical examinations for employees referred by the Chief of Police. The physician must attend office hours and be available on-call. Monthly billing statements are required. Candidates must provide proof of business registration with the New Jersey Division of Taxation and comply with affirmative action requirements. Selection criteria include qualifications, experience, ability to perform in a timely fashion, and cost competitiveness. Sealed proposals are due by 9:30 am on March 27, 2026, and will be publicly opened at that time. One original and two copies of the RFP are required.

The bid notice states that the contract will permit the city to make payments to the successful proposer for approved services in accordance with, and within the time permitted by, the law governing prompt payment of public contracts for the purchase of goods and services.
The selection criteria used in awarding a contract or agreement for professional services shall include: qualifications of the individuals who will perform the tasks and the amounts of their respective participation; experience in providing medical services to police departments in urban environments substantially similar to Union City and references; ability to perform the task in a timely fashion, including staffing and familiarity with the subject matter; ability to be available with the appropriate personnel at all times necessary to accomplish the representation; and cost competitiveness in light of all of the above factors.
Each candidate shall submit proof of business registration with the New Jersey Division of Taxation and must comply with the affirmative action requirements. The successful physician should have significant experience in providing medical services in the capacity of a police physician. Additional required information includes name of business, address, areas of practice, description of physicians education, licensing, experience, qualifications, number of years with the practice, references, examples of record of success as a police physician, ability to provide services in a timely fashion, cost details, statement of ownership disclosure, disclosure of investment activities in Iran, certification of noninvolvement in prohibited activities in Russia or Belarus, business registration certificate, and a statement certifying no prior or pending ethics complaints.
