The bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope and delivered to the office of the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary of the South Brunswick Board of Education on or before Thursday, May 28th, 2026, by 10:00 a. m. The bid opening process will begin on this date and time at the board offices.
Every effort will be made to pay vendors and contractors within thirty (30) to sixty (60) days, provided the Board of Education receives the appropriate documentation, including signed vouchers, packing slips, and invoices. Payment will be rendered upon completion of services or delivery of the full order to the satisfaction of the Board of Education, unless otherwise agreed to by written contract or mandated by state law. Partial payments may be made at the Board's discretion. All payments are subject to approval by the Board of Education at a public meeting.
The contractor shall guarantee all work to the complete satisfaction of the district. The contractor must, without any charge or fee, promptly return to the district and properly replace any improper work or material. Call back service shall be provided to the district at no additional cost and within twenty-four (24) hours for non-emergencies and two (2) hours for emergent work.
The South Brunswick Board of Education intends to award the total primary contract to the lowest responsible bidder based upon the bid hourly labor charge for standard rate for asphalt laborer and the bid hourly labor charge for standard rate for journeyman mason. The board will not consider any bid price lower than the current New Jersey prevailing wage rates for Middlesex County.
The contractor shall be an experienced and licensed contractor in the State of New Jersey and permitted to do work in Monmouth Junction, North Brunswick, and South Brunswick, New Jersey. The contractor shall have expertise in the trade of road construction and paving for educational facilities and the public sector. The contractor shall provide evidence of having provided road construction and asphalt paving work with at least three (3) school districts or municipalities in the past five (5) years. It is preferred the contractor have a local office within a 25-mile radius of the job site, staffed with qualified trained contractors and trained laborers.
The Board of Education shall deduct the amount of $1,**** (one thousand dollars) per day as a penalty, for each day a prime contractor uses a subcontractor without first receiving written permission from the Building and Grounds Department. Liquidated damages will be assessed for failure to complete the project within the specified time frame or contract completion date, with amounts ranging from **** to $2,**** per calendar day depending on the contract amount.
Any prospective bidder who wishes to challenge a bid specification shall file such challenges in writing with the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary no less than three (3) days prior to the opening of bids. Challenges filed after that date shall be considered void.
