The justification for sole sourcing is based on the unique integrated approach meeting stringent requirements for airtight welds and machining tolerances, reducing contamination risks and lead times. The 581st missile maintenance squadron requires the equipment to expand machining capabilities and perform repairs on critical assets. The existing infrastructure and personnel familiarity with MazaK equipment are also factors in the decision.
