The
project involves draining, flushing, and refilling boiler and chiller systems, and performing testing and balancing on pumps. The work must be completed within 30 days of the notice to proceed. Contractors must submit shop drawings and material submittals within 10 calendar days of the notice to proceed. Safety equipment and instructions must be provided to employees, and a copy provided to the contracting officer representative prior to commencing work. Material safety data sheets (MSDS) must be submitted with the AF Form **** material approval submittal form, and a copy must be displayed at the job site. All construction materials and chemical compounds must be stored in the original container or properly marked containers and approved storage containers supplied by the contractor. Hazardous or flammable compounds must be stored in approved lockable storage boxes. All surplus materials and/or compounds must be removed from the base when work on the
project is complete. Daily removal of debris is required, and no materials may be left on the work site that may be blown by wind or present a hazard to vehicle or pedestrian traffic. Welding, cutting, and burning operations may be anticipated in this
project. The contractor shall contact the base fire department to receive the burning and welding permit prior to starting any operations that produce a spark or flame. Demolition of existing hot water coils, glycol antifreeze, shaft, and bearings is included. The contractor shall recycle or dispose of any glycol antifreeze in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Waste disposal and site cleanup must be in compliance with all state and federal and local regulatory guidelines. The contractor shall submit dump receipts or tickets to the base civil engineer. The contractor shall drain and dispose of off-base boiler and chiller systems. The contractor shall flush the boiler and chiller systems for 24 hours with approved power flush product, remove and dispose of flush product. The contractor shall fully refill boiler and chiller systems with 30 propylene glycol. The contractor shall fill feeder hopper with propylene glycol for future use. The contractor shall perform testing, adjusting, and balancing using the standards and procedures as set forth by the testing, adjusting, and balancing bureau ICBF ABB and SMACNA on all 5 boiler and 3 chiller pumps. The contractor shall perform startup and inspection of all boiler and chiller pump systems, testing flow of proper operation, with the presence of the civil engineer
project manager. The contractor shall warrant his workmanship for a period of one year from acceptance of work. Any chemicals purged from the unit prior to removal must be disposed of in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations. A report shall be turned in to the civil engineer
project manager. The facility does not contain asbestos materials, however, should questionable materials be encountered the contractor shall stop all work and notify the base civil engineer. Thermostats that contain mercury shall be disposed of in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
