The Town of Durham is seeking bids for the purchase and installation of an HVAC system at the Public Works Garage. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes by Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM. A mandatory walkthrough is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Requests for information must be submitted in writing by Friday, May 15, 2026, at 9:00 AM. The work must be completed no later than October 2, 2026. Bidders must be licensed and qualified, and provide proof of certifications, licenses, and insurances with their bid. Conditional bids and alternate bids will not be considered unless specifically requested. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and qualified bidder. The bid price must remain firm throughout the project. Bonds, including a labor and materials payment bond and a performance bond, are required. The contractor must comply with all federal, state, and local laws, including prevailing wage requirements if the bid exceeds $100,000. Insurance requirements include commercial general liability, commercial automobile liability, contractors pollution liability, and workers compensation.
The work shall be completed no later than October 2, 2026.
The town will pay the contractor within thirty (30) days after receipt of the contractor's invoice based upon the percentage of work completed, provided the work is completed to the reasonable satisfaction of the town.
All warranties shall commence as of the date of final completion and acceptance of the work by the town and shall continue for a period of one (1) year or longer as required by the contract documents.
The town intends to award a contract, if at all, to the lowest responsible and qualified bidder.
Bidders must have all necessary federal and state licenses, as well as intellectual property rights, to authorize it to do business in Connecticut, sell/transfer/distribute/install the equipment and materials listed in this bid and fully perform its contract with the town.
If the contractor fails to perform this contract in accordance with its terms, the town shall have the right, in addition to all other remedies it may have, to declare the contract in default and terminate the contract upon providing the contractor with three (3) days written notice in which time the contractor failed to commence and diligently and continuously prosecute a cure of the default.
A mandatory walkthrough will be on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 9:00 a. m. , at the Public Works Garage, 20 Cream Pot Road.
Requests for information must be directed, in writing, no later than Friday, May 15, 2026, at 9:00 a. m.
