The Plainfield Park District is seeking bids for the Playground Renovation: Boy Scout Bid **** project. Sealed proposals will be received until May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM, and will be opened immediately thereafter at the Plainfield Park District Administration Office. The project involves demolition, site preparation, drainage, concrete work, installation of play equipment, surfacing, and landscaping. Bidders must be qualified and experienced in similar work. A bid bond or cashier's check for ten percent of the bid amount is required. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. The work is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act. Project manuals are available on the park district's website or via email.
The bid submission deadline is May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Bids submitted after this time will be rejected and returned unopened.
Payment shall be made by the park district to the contractor upon the park district's receipt of an invoice itemizing the work properly performed as determined by the park district, and delivery of lien waivers and sworn statements, for the period covered by the invoice. The contract sum shall be paid in accordance with the local government prompt payment act.
The contractor warrants that all material and work provided will be in conformance with the contract documents and free from defects in workmanship, materials and equipment for a period of one (1) year or such longer period as may be specified in the contract documents, except as provided below. Warranty time periods shall commence with the date of final completion of the work.
The park district will award the contract for this project to the lowest responsible bidder.
Bidders must be able to demonstrate that they have experience in performing and have successfully performed and are still actively engaged in performing work similar in kind and scope to the work of the project and are able to show that they have adequate laborers and materials to successfully complete the work as indicated in the bid documents and within the time required by the bid documents.
If the contractor fails to achieve substantial completion of the work by the substantial completion dates established in the contract documents and/or as established in the approved construction schedules, as may be adjusted by extensions of time contained in fully executed change orders, if any the scheduled dates of substantial completion, the contractor shall be liable to and shall pay the owner the amount of **** per calendar day for each and every such day between the scheduled dates of substantial completion and the actual dates of final completion, and the owner may set off and deduct such amounts from payments due, or which may later become due, to the contractor.
Each bidder shall visit the sites of the proposed work and fully acquaint itself with conditions, as they exist, and shall undertake such additional inquiry and investigation, as the bidder shall deem necessary so that the bidder may fully understand the requirements, facilities, possible difficulties and restrictions attending the execution of the work under the contract.
If the bidder is in doubt as to the interpretation of any part of the bid documents, or finds errors, discrepancies or omissions from any part of the contract documents, the bidder must submit a written request for interpretation thereof not later than five (5) business days prior to opening of bids to the park district.
Failure of a bidder to complete/submit a required certification may result in immediate rejection of that bidder's bid. Failure of a bidder to complete/submit these documents may result in immediate rejection of that bidder's bid.
