The City of Ojai is inviting sealed bids for remedial soil excavation. Bids are due on March 5, 2026, at 2:00 p. m. The project involves removing approximately 136 cubic yards of lead-impacted soil and 40 cubic yards of arsenic-impacted soil. The contractor must possess a valid Class A contractor's license or a C12 earthwork and paving contractor's license, and a hazardous substance removal HAZ certification. A bid guarantee in the amount of 10% of the total bid is required. The contractor must inspect the site. The project is subject to prevailing wage requirements. The contractor shall complete the work within the number of working days specified in b1. 03 of section b notice to bidders after the notice to proceed. The contractor agrees to forfeit and pay the agency the amount of five hundred dollars **** per day for each and every day of unauthorized delay beyond the completion date, which shall be deducted from any monies due the contractor.
The construction end date is not later than 1st day of may, 2026.
The agency will pay the contractor the prices set forth in the bid proposal and bid schedule as full compensation for furnishing all materials, performing all work, and fulfilling all obligations. The agreement is subject to the provisions of article 1. 7 commencing at section **** of division 2, part 3 of the public contract code regarding prompt payment of contractors by local governments.
All work shall be warranted by the contractor against defective workmanship and materials for a period of 1 year from the date the work was completed. The contractor shall replace or repair any such defective work in a manner satisfactory to the engineer, after notice to do so from the engineer, and within the time specified in the notice.
The contract will be awarded, if at all, to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, whose bid proposal is not rejected for cause by the agency.
Each bidder shall be skilled and regularly engaged in the general class or type of work called for under the contract. A statement setting forth hisher experience shall be submitted by each bidder on the experience statement form provided in section c.
The contractor shall forfeit and pay the agency the amount of five hundred dollars **** per day for each and every day of unauthorized delay beyond the completion date, which shall be deducted from any monies due the contractor. This payment shall be considered liquidated damages.
Bidders are required to inspect the site of the work in order to satisfy themselves, by personal examination or by such other means as they may prefer, of the location of the proposed work and as to the actual conditions of and at the site of work.
