Fabrication of subscale thinwall nozzles, material property testing, process qualification samples, and process characterization samples using JBK75, NASA HR1, and specialty alloys. Task 1: Fabrication of witness test specimens using JBK75 and NASA HR1 via laser powder directed energy deposition ( LPPD). Fabrication of build samples with approximate 1 mm wall thickness and integral channels. Preparation of build plates. Review of models and refinement of build approach for JBK75 thin wall RS25 nozzle demonstrator and representative build samples. Provision of design inputs and detailed toolpath strategies. Demonstration of LPPD using a large scale machine platform for capability to print the aft end of an RS25 nozzle. Provision of capability within the laser system for 1 mm wall thickness.
