The Tennessee Department of Education is seeking applications for the RTAP Expansion Grant (****) to support up to 45 Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) in establishing and expanding Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Programs (RTAPs). The grant aims to create a low-cost, earn-and-learn model for aspiring teachers. Applications are due by June 18, 2026. The total budget for the grant project is $3,500,**** over 24 months. EPPs must partner with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) or CMOs. The grant covers qualified educational expenses, ensuring apprentices' out-of-pocket costs do not exceed 15% of total qualified program expenses. Two pathways are available: a 2-year Bachelor's degree program and a post-baccalaureate/Master's degree program. Applications must be submitted electronically.
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm CT on June 18, 2026.
The grantee shall be reimbursed for actual, reasonable, and necessary costs based upon the grant budget, not to exceed the maximum liability. Invoices are to be submitted no more often than monthly.
The state will select up to 45 grantees based on alignment with the state's programmatic priorities and workforce needs, as outlined in this RFA, and final averaged scores resulting from the competitive review process.
Eligible applicants include public and private educator preparation providers (EPPs) that commit to partnering with one or more Tennessee local education agency (LEA) and/or public charter school via a charter management organization (CMO).
Failure to submit required documentation within the specified timeframe may result in delayed reimbursement, withholding of funds, or other actions deemed appropriate by the state, including the potential loss of funding.
The state reserves the right to not fund an application if it is determined that the proposed program does not sufficiently align with these priorities, regardless of score. Failure to submit required documentation may result in loss of funding.
The state's total budget for the TeachReadyTN RTAP Expansion Grant project is $3,500,****.
