The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service is seeking a natural resource specialist to support the collection of field vegetation inventory data for ecological site descriptions in Puerto Rico. The specialist will work directly with a research ecologist, collect field data, and develop reports and publications. The project is estimated to last one year, with a flexible work schedule of approximately 20 hours per week. The contractor must have specialized skills in natural resource inventories, familiarity with the local flora, experience working with species inventory data, experience organizing data, data quality assessment, and in reporting on field and electronic natural resource data. Bilingual Spanish-English communication skills are required, as well as the ability to manage a small team and work collaboratively in field sampling. The contractor must have an advanced degree in biology or other natural resource fields and demonstrate evidence of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
