This is a Notice of Request for Bid for a fire sprinkler protection system at a barn located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bids must be submitted electronically through the city's online eprocurement portal by May 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM CT. Email, fax, or hard copy submittals are not acceptable. A prebid meeting is strongly encouraged on May 22, 2026, at 8:30 AM CT at the project site to examine work areas and ask questions. Insurance requirements must be met before work begins. Payment terms are net 45 days upon receipt of an acceptable invoice after work is performed, inspected, and accepted. Payment and performance bonds are required within 10 days of award. Awards will be made to the responsible bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid. A local preference program may apply. Bidders must clearly state any exceptions to the bid requirements. OSHA violations in the last five years must be disclosed.
The bid submission deadline is Friday, May 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM CT. The initial term of the contract shall end on August 31, 2026.
Payment terms for work authorized under the contract shall be net forty-five (45) days upon receipt of an acceptable original invoice and after work is performed, inspected and accepted and all required documentation and reports are received in a format acceptable to the city.
Award shall be made to the responsible bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid with regard to the specifications set forth herein.
In addition to the quoted price, the following is a partial list of the criteria that may be used in our determination of contractor responsibility and responsiveness: adherence to specifications, company's reputation and financial status, company's ability to meet the city's insurance requirements, current lead time quoted, guarantees and warranties, past experience and service provided by bidder, favorable references from firms with projects of similar scopes that indicate that the bidder has the ability to carry out the work and provide the products specified.
A prebid meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, at 8:30 a. m. CT at the barn located at 919 6th St. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. All interested bidders are strongly encouraged to attend to examine the work areas and equipment, ask specific questions and request clarifications.
Failure to complete or provide any of the information requested in this request for bid, including references, and/or additional information as indicated, may result in disqualification by reason of nonresponsiveness.
