Iowa State University is soliciting proposals for 2-position wooden dorm room chairs. Proposals are due July 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM CT. Questions deadline is July 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM CT. Bids must be submitted online via ISUBID. The contract will be for 1 year with an option to renew for an additional year. Contractors must provide technical specifications, cut sheets, wood finish and upholstery options (including red vinyl), and warranty terms. Chairs must have a minimum 10-year warranty on materials and workmanship, and a minimum 5-year warranty on upholstery. A minimum 300 lb. weight capacity is required. The university reserves the right to determine equivalency based on quality, durability, dimensions, aesthetics, and compliance with specifications.
The response deadline is July 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM CT. Iowa State University would like to order a small number of chairs as soon as the award is made and asks if contractors can meet delivery by mid-August.
Payment term options include 2% 10, net 30; 2% 15, net 30; 5% 15, net 30; net 10; net 15; net 20; net 30; or other. Electronic payments are accepted if the company is awarded the contract.
A minimum 10-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship is required for the chairs. The upholstery warranty must be a minimum of 5 years.
The evaluation of this RFP/RFQ may be based upon, but not limited to: overall cost to ISU, ability to meet the specifications of the RFP, additional volume discounts provided, payment terms, compliance with terms and conditions of the RFP, and references.
Contractors must be qualified and provide references for higher education institutions that have been using the proposed chair for more than three years. It is strongly recommended that references be provided, as failure to do so may result in a score of 0 points for this evaluation criterion.
Questions answered with see attachment or see brochure will be considered noncompliant, and your bid response may not be considered. Exceptions taken to the RFP/RFQ documents may cause the proposal to be rejected at the sole discretion of the university.
