Proposals are due September 9, 2025, 2:00 PM PDT, for the creation of crosswalk art in the Nye Beach neighborhood of Newport, Oregon. The project involves original painted artwork at three locations near the Newport Performing Arts Center. Proposals must include an artist statement (max 500 words), design concept sketch/mockup with color notes, resume/CV, up to 4 work samples with descriptions, and two professional references. The selected artist will receive a stipend of $4,000 and paint donated by Sherwin-Williams. The City of Newport will provide traffic control, signage, and safety measures. The project is anticipated to be completed around September 30, 2025.
The original proposal must be received by 2:00 PM PDT on September 9, 2025, as verified by timestamp.
The contractor's warranty is as stated within exhibit b. The contractor further warrants that all materials, equipment, and/or services provided under this agreement shall be fit for the purposes for which intended, for merchantability, that material and equipment shall be properly packaged, that proper instructions and warnings shall be supplied, and that the project shall conform to the requirements and specifications herein.
Proposals will be evaluated on artistic quality, originality, attractiveness, feasibility in a public, high-traffic setting, alignment with Nye Beach's coastal character, and ability to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively.
Proposals will be accepted only from organizations (profit or non-profit, or other collaborative arrangements) that are qualified to conduct business in the state of Oregon and the city of Newport. If a corporation or limited liability company, it must be in good standing with the Secretary of State.
Proposals must contain up to 4 work samples with descriptions.
