Summit County is seeking artists or artist teams to propose concepts for up to seven artistic benches to be installed on the exterior of the Sheriffs Office and Attorneys Office at the Silver Summit Services Building. The project budget is up to $52,000, inclusive of all artist fees, labor, materials, installation, and travel. The projected artwork installation period is between summer and fall of 2026. A pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, from 9 to 10 a. m. (optional but recommended). All questions regarding this RFP must be submitted in writing through the Utah State Procurement website (UP3 Bonfire) by 5:00 p. m. on Monday, May 18, 2026. The deadline for responses is 5:00 p. m. Mountain Time on Friday, May 22, 2026. Digital format responses are required via email or through UP3 Bonfire, submitted as a single PDF not exceeding 10 pages. Required application materials include a professional resume, statement of interest, initial concept with sketches and budget, up to five work samples, and at least three references. Respondents are instructed not to contact county employees or officials outside of the provided channels. Summit County reserves the right to cancel the project or reject any or all proposals.
The deadline for responses is at 5 pm mountain time on Friday, May 22nd, 2026.
Panelists will use the following criteria to rank submissions: 1. A proposed concept that achieves the stated goals. 2. Demonstrated applicant ability to create appropriate artworks. 3. Demonstrated applicant ability to meet project schedule demands. 4. Adherence to the maximum budget. 5. Functionality and durability of the proposed artwork. 6. Professional references.
Any artist or artist teams interested in responding to this request for proposals RFP may complete a proposal in accordance with the guidelines provided below. Respondents may submit proposals for one or all seven benches. Additional consideration may be given to submissions with stated relevance and ties to Summit County, UT. SCPAAB members, employees of Summit County, selection panel members, project personnel, and immediate family members of all of the above are not eligible to apply.
A preproposal meeting will be held on Friday, May 15 from 9 to 10 a. m. The preproposal meeting is not mandatory but recommended.
Applicants may submit up to five 5 examples of past work with an annotated work sample description including a brief description of the artwork, the title of the artwork, completion date, medium, location and dimensions.
