This is a public tender for flooring and installation services at the Kathleen E. Goodwin Elementary School in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Bids are due by 11:00 AM on April 27, 2026, and will be opened publicly. The project involves installing VCT tiles and wall base in classrooms and offices, with an estimated area of 6,460 square feet. The work is a prevailing wage project. Bidders must submit a bid proposal form, non-collusion bidding certification, equal employment opportunity certification, statement of bidders qualifications, and a current certificate of insurance. The installation is expected to last no longer than 2 weeks and is preliminarily scheduled to begin in mid to late July 2026, contingent on asbestos abatement completion. The bid proposal form indicates a desired completion date of July 31, 2026.
The contractor shall guarantee that the work to be performed under the contract, and all workmanship, materials and equipment performed, furnished, used or installed shall be free from defects and flaws, and shall be performed and furnished in accordance with the contract documents. This guarantee period shall be for one 1 year from and after the date of completion and acceptance of the work by the board.
The contract for the work will be awarded within thirty 30 successive calendar days after the opening of bids, subject to the rights reserved by the board of education. The board reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept a bid that, in its sole discretion, is in the best interest of the board.
Bidders shall be experienced in the kind of work to be performed, shall have the necessary equipment therefore, and shall possess sufficient capital to properly execute the work within the time allowed. Bidders must submit a statement of bidders qualifications and may be asked to furnish additional data to demonstrate competency. Subcontractors must have documented proof of experience in successfully completed projects of a similar nature. Bidders must also provide evidence of their qualification to do business in the state of Connecticut or covenant to obtain such qualification prior to execution of the agreement.
A prebid meeting will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 80 Old Boston Post Road. There are to be no unscheduled site visits.
