Bids are invited for driver education road instruction services for Smithtown Central School District. Bids are due by 11:00 a. m. on June 16, 2026. A site visit is recommended. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible responsive bidder. The estimated number of students annually is 300-400. The contract term is from June 24, 2026, to June 23, 2027, with potential for extension up to 48 months. Payments will be made monthly for the school year and upon completion for the summer program. A valid NYS driving school license is required.
Bid submissions must be received by 11:00 a. m. local time on June 16, 2026.
Payment shall be made to the awarded vendor monthly during the regular school year semesters, and upon completion/final invoice for the summer program. The district will compensate the contractor within ninety 90 days of receipt, review and approval of the invoice.
The contractor warrants all labor, equipment and material for a period of one year from the date of final payment and agrees to return promptly to the job without additional compensation to perform any corrective work or to install new replacement material or equipment if required.
The district will award the contract to the lowest responsible responsive bidder furnishing the required security.
A valid New York State driving school license must be submitted with the bid submission. The awarded vendor must supply a valid New York State driving school license to the district annually. Instructors must have a valid NYS driver's license, current N. Y. S. MV524 driving school instructor card, and completion certificate of a 30-hour basic instructor's course.
If the awarded vendor fails to deliver or provide services within the time specified, or fails to make replacement of rejected articles, the district may purchase from other sources and the vendor agrees to reimburse the district for excess costs. There may be a penalty of fifty dollars (****) for each calendar day of discrimination against an employee.
Each bidder must examine and be fully familiar with the bid documents. By submitting a bid proposal, the bidder represents and warrants that they have visited the sites of proposed work and has become familiar with conditions as they exist. To arrange for an onsite visit, a bidder may contact the purchasing agent or his/her designee.
Specifications are designed to establish minimum levels of quality. The district reserves the right to request a representative sample of any item bid. The district may request a sample after the bid opening. If the sample does not meet the requirements set forth in bid documents, the district may reject the bid for the item.
Bids lacking required information may be rejected as being incomplete and/or nonresponsive. Failure to comply with insurance requirements constitutes a material breach of contract.
