Genesee County is seeking bids for the demolition of its old administration building. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit will be held on July 9, 2026. Bids are due by 2:00 PM EST on July 30, 2026. Contractors must have at least 5 years of experience, be licensed in Michigan, and provide bid, performance, and payment bonds. The project includes asbestos abatement, waste disposal, and building demolition. Questions are due by July 7, 2026.
Sealed bids will be received until 2:00 p. m. EST, Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Payments shall be made to the contractor upon receipt of an invoice. The county will retain 10% of the amount on the invoice, and upon approval, payment is remitted within 30 days. Final payment of retained funds will be remitted upon final inspection and receipt of maintenance bond.
The contractor warrants that the work will be performed in a good and workmanlike manner and will conform to specifications and be free of defects in workmanship or materials for a period of one year following completion.
The contract shall be awarded to the lowest and/or most responsive and/or most responsible qualified bidder.
Bidders must have at least five years of experience, be properly licensed under Michigan law, and be able to obtain required insurance and bonds. A Michigan Residential Builder or Maintenance and Alterations Home Wrecking license is required.
Failure to attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting shall result in disqualification of a contractor's bid. Breach of contract warranties can lead to termination.
An onsite mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 a. m. EST at **** Beach St. After the formal meeting, contractors will be able to tour the building.
Questions regarding this ITB shall be submitted in writing and received before 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Failure to attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting shall result in disqualification of a contractor's bid. Misrepresenting information in the bid may result in contract termination.
