Stump Cutting Government Bids & RFPs

The bid opening is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Bids received after this time will not be considered.

Payment discounts for early payment are preferred. All other payments shall be net thirty (30) days unless specified otherwise. The bidder shall submit itemized invoices to the Director of Public Works or his designee on a monthly basis.

The bid will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder that can complete the job in the specified time required in the bid regardless of any specialized equipment the vendor chooses to use.

The City of Middletown will accept bids from any licensed State of Connecticut Arborists to provide tree removal, pruning, and stump grinding services for the Department of Public Works. Said arborist must submit proof of license.

Failure to meet the time frame for work completion under a work order shall constitute default and breach of contract, and the owner may authorize procurement of such services from an alternate source, charging the excess expenses to the contractor.

Questions concerning this bid should be directed in writing to the purchasing department. The deadline for submission of questions is 12:00 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2026 EST.

A conditional or qualified bid will not be accepted. Facsimile bids will not be accepted by the city under any circumstances.

The PWS outlines various deadlines for submittals and work completion, such as the contractor work plan due within 10 calendar days after contract award, and key personnel CVs within 5 days after contract award. For snow events, the contractor must respond within 2 hours of notification. Specific reporting deadlines are also detailed throughout the document.
