Cutting and hand piling undesirable conifer, hardwood, and brush species Miller Prairie: Cut conifer less than 8 inches DBH ( dead conifer less than 4 inches DBH). Cut hardwoods less than 6 inches DBH ( dead hardwoods less than 4 inches DBH). Radial release within 30 feet of oak dripline: cut conifer less than 12 inches DBH ( except orange- flagged trees). Girdling within 30 feet of oak dripline: girdle Douglas fir 30 inches DBH and less ( except orange- flagged trees). Cut all specified conifers, hardwoods, and brush over 1 foot tall to a 6- inch stump height. Retain 25- foot no- cut buffers along streams. No- cut species: Oregon white oak, California black oak, bigleaf maple, California hazel, woodland rose, gummy gooseberry. Limbing and bucking slash to 6 feet or less. Fell boles limbed and severed at an 8- inch top. Boles greater than 8 inches not hand piled. Dead and down material 5 inches or less limbed, bucked, and hand piled. All boles limbed and bucked for ground contact. Hand pile slash 8- 12 inches
