Sealed bids are invited for Fred Meijer Flat River Trail Repairs. The project includes adjusting boardwalk posts, replacing detectable warning plates with cast iron, and patching deck boards. Bids are due July 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The contract will be a firm fixed-price contract. Electronic bidding is not allowed. A payment and performance bond will be required. The warranty for mending plates on repaired posts is 1 year. The project completion deadline is November 30, 2026.
All work shall be complete by November 30, 2026, unless an extension is requested in writing and approved by the engineer.
The requests for payment will include a 10% retainage for all payment requested. This retainage will be held according to current laws by the owner until full project completion.
The installation shall have a warranty of 1 year against failure of mending plates on repaired posts.
It is the intention of the owner to award this contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The bidder must submit a listing of a minimum of three references for successfully completed, similar work.
If the contractor is willfully violating any of the provisions of this contract, or should the work or any part thereof, be not fully completed within the time granted in the contract by the city then, in any such case, the city may notify the contractor, in writing, to discontinue all work, or any part thereof.
Prior to submission of the bid, all bidders shall make, and shall make a careful examination of the site, the scope of work, and the project manual included herewith.
If an apparent low bidder is rejected for recommendation to award the project, the bidder has the right of appeal and shall submit a written statement of appeal within 5 days of the date on the written notice of rejection.
Any work completed by the contractor without written documentation from the owner may risk nonpayment for the work.
