If the contractor fails to complete the work within the time specified, they agree to pay liquidated damages of 300 for each and every calendar day of default. if the said contractor shall neglect, fail or refuse to complete the work within the time hereinspecified, or any proper extension thereof granted by the county, then the contractor doeshereby agree, as a part consideration for the awarding of this contract, to pay to the county, notas a penalty but as liquidated damages for such breach of contract hereinafter set forth, 300 foreach and every calendar day that the contractor shall be in default after the time stipulated inthe contract for completing the work.
