The Town of Fuquay-Varina, NC is seeking proposals for an Advanced Water Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. The project involves the supply and installation of water meters and a two-way AMI reading system. Key requirements include hardware, software, collectors, transmitters, and appurtenances for comprehensive water meter readings. The system must support advanced functionalities like remote shutoff, leak detection, and tamper alerts. The town will own the infrastructure. Proposals are due by August 11, 2026. Award will be based on best value, considering technical merit, vendor qualifications, and total cost of ownership. The project scope includes installation, system integration, training, and ongoing support. Vendors must demonstrate experience with similar projects and provide licensing and insurance documentation.
The scope of work (SOW) should be completed by March 1, 2028. Full deployment of the AMI infrastructure is required no more than 20 months from the notice to proceed.
Vendor shall be compensated on a net 30 days basis after the accounts payable department has received approved invoices and associated sales/use tax certifications.
Water meters shall have a minimum of 20 years of read accuracy and performance warranty, and a 20-year battery life warranty for AMI endpoints.
Award shall be made according to best value, based on multiple factors including total cost of ownership, evaluated technical merit, vendor's past performance, and the evaluated probability of performing requirements.
Proposals will be evaluated based on technical capabilities, solution fit, implementation and schedule, hardware specifications, vendor qualification and experience, and responsiveness to maintenance requests.
The final agreement may include liquidated damages for project schedule violations.
Proposer questions are accepted until 5:00 PM EST on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Proposals not submitted by the specified date and time will not be considered and will be returned unopened. Failure to execute/sign bid prior to submittal may render bid invalid and it may be rejected.
